1. Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to Briggs Clinical (formerly Specialist Speech Pathology Services) and all services delivered under the Briggs Clinical name, including speech pathology assessment and therapy, clinical monitoring, and training and education services.

Briggs Clinical is committed to protecting the privacy of clients, participants, referrers and providers whose information we hold. We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

3. What information we collect

Contact details; referral information; health information including clinical assessment findings, swallowing and communication status, medical history, treatment notes and monitoring observations; provider and organisational information; website usage data.

4. How information is collected

Through referral forms, direct client and provider contact, monthly monitoring forms completed by provider staff, clinical assessment and session notes, and website contact and download forms.

5. Why we collect and use information

To deliver speech pathology assessment and therapy; conduct clinical monitoring and produce monitoring letters and reports; communicate with clients, families, referrers and providers; and meet legal, regulatory and professional obligations.

6. How information is stored and protected

Client and provider information is stored using secure practice management and business systems. Access is restricted to authorised personnel.

7. Who we share information with

Support coordinators, plan managers and other professionals involved in a client's care where clinically necessary; referral providers where a referral has been accepted; and regulatory bodies where legally required. We do not share personal information for marketing purposes without consent.

8. Health information

Health information is treated as sensitive information under the Privacy Act. We collect, use and disclose health information only where necessary to provide our services or where otherwise required or permitted by law.

9. Data retention

Health records are retained in accordance with applicable legal requirements for health records in Victoria.

10. Accessing or correcting your information

11. Making a complaint
